Our collective of institutional partners, facilitators, researchers, family strengthening experts and family leaders collaborate to increase access to emotional wellness in BIPOC and marginalized communities so that families can thrive.
We understand that emotional wellness is a basic need for all families, not a luxury.
Our biggest strength is our BIPOC woman founder who is a lived experience expert, having grown up in poverty and been a teen mom. The life experience and determination required to be successful coming from humble beginnings has cultivated a wisdom, a presence and an understanding of how low-income BIPOC families struggle and how they can heal with adequate emotional support in their community.
Marginalized and Minoritized communities need access to mental health and wellness supports that are culturally sustaining AND effective.
To date, mindfulness meditation has been taught almost exclusively in white, middle-and upper-class settings with minimal utilization in communities of color in the United States. (Salmon et al., 2004)
Noble Maat is changing that narrative!
Missions are driven by people:
Nonprofit employees working with families play a crucial role in fostering resilience and well-being. We:
Because the Burnout Prevention Mindfulness Retreat was my first experience with a residential retreat, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I immediately felt comfortable in the peaceful atmosphere of the retreat center. The retreat program worked magic on my attitude and outlook by providing me mindfulness skills that I could put into practice right then and there. The word transformative may be overused, but it is spot-on! - Doll, Maryland
