Alexis Thomason, CMT-P, MBSR 1
Founder | Mindfulness Teacher| Family Engagement Educator
International Mindfulness Teacher's Association Board President
I am a Certified Mindfulness Teacher (CMT-P) with over 25 years of experience in educational and nonprofit executive leadership. I've served as an Executive Director in Baltimore City, a K-8 NYC School Principal and a Dean of Students, and a Deputy Chief of Family & Community Programs in DC. These are some of the highest need areas in the country, so I know what it means to lead with courage.
In addition, I earned a degree in Business Management from The University of the City of New York, a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from NYU, A Mindfulness Meditation Certification from The Greater Good Center at UCLA and I have advanced training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) from Brown University.
Together, my training, personal practice and professional experience have provided me with a unique and comprehensive understanding of the benefit of mindfulness and meditation in real life. l am a lived experience expert having survived proverty, teen parenthood and trauma. On this path, I have cultivated mindfulness and relied on the art of meditation and deep study of ancient wisdom traditions to guide me to be a better self-leader and practitioner.
I bring my skills and intentions together to design high quality, trauma-informed, mindfulness-based programs that center your own wellbeing and growth as a catalyst for elevating your positive impact at work and in life. I do this because my decades of experience and training (as well as recent bodies of work on effective and contemplative leadership) has made it profoundly clear to me that great missions are accomplished by healed, whole and empowered teams, who become that way because they are led by healed, whole and empowered leaders.
Real Community Engagement!
It's one thing to work to end poverty, its another thing altogether to experience, escape it, and evolve.
Every child should have the right to control their destiny.
Contemplative, Interactive, and transformative!
