Our definition of mindfulness is paying close attention to the mind and body as they are—sensations, inner chatter, self-stories, and emotional state, while consciously continuing to relate to that inner landscape in real time, free from overidentifying, dissociating, and reacting to experience as it unfolds.
Being mindful is the act of focusing your awareness and attention on whatever is present at any given moment while knowing that you are presently, intentionally, wakefully directing your attention.
If you have a mind, you have the capacity for mindfulness—and wellbeing is a birthright, regardless of race, ethnicity, body type, education, gender, age, or income.
